• FinalBurn Alpha v0.128: The updates just don't stop! This new version adds in the netplay code from Final Burn Kaillera alpha 3, so now you can play D&D: Shadow Over Mystara online! This newer version is now available for download on my Emu Reviews page.
- cyrussd

• FinalBurn Alpha v0.127: Another non-hacked version of FinalBurn today. Man is all this updating making me tired This releases adds support for the previously removed CPS1 games. It's available for download like all the others on my Emu Reviews page.
- cyrussd

• Final Burn Kaillera alpha 3: This great new non-hacked version of Final Burn has been updated so players no longer have to use the default keys, enables the use of joypads and also prevents a lot of desynchs. You can download it on my Emu Reviews page.
- cyrussd

• FBCPS2en Edit 35: I didn't think that we'd be seeing any of the FinalBurn hacks still updated, but I guess I was wrong This release adds support for the XOR's that were released last Wednesday. You can download it as well on my Emu Reviews page.
- cyrussd

• CPS2mame cheats added: Finally, I added the CPS2mame cheats by Palom to my Emu Reviews page under the newly added cheats section.
- cyrussd

• 2nd release of Goutetsu's Cheats: I received an email from Goutetsu with his updated cheats for both Kawaks and Nebula. You can download em' on my Emu Reviews page under the newly added cheats section.
- cyrussd

• Ace v1.2b: Even more fixes and additions to this rapidly updated emu. Check out what's new:

  • Sound is now stereo (thank god 8-)
  • Added a bunch of configurable options from the ace.ini file. With 22050 sound frequency all CPS1 games are also playable at full speed.
  • Fixed a really minor rowscroll problem.
  • Hopefully solved the 32bpp-only problem.

You can grab it as well on my Emu Reviews page.

• Ace v1.2a: Wow, that was quick! It looks as if the author was emulating too much, so he removed some uneeded code and was able to obtain full framerate with sound in all CPS2 games on his pentium 450! You can download the new version on my Emu Reviews page.
- cyrussd

• Dayvee releases compiled FinalBurn: Ah, just like old times *sniff sniff* Take a look at whats new:

  • Added G-Loc (incomplete)
  • Added Street Fighter Zero 3
  • Added Strider
  • Added Super Puzzle Fighter 2 X
  • Released source code (see www.finalburn.com for details)

Now don't think that he is starting up FinalBurn again, he simply just compliled the source code he released. Still, it is nice to go to the
FinalBurn homepage and see a new version there As always, you can download it on my Emu Reviews page.
- cyrussd

• Ace v1.2: This late starting emulator seems to be coming along quite nicely Here's what's new:

  • Added QSound in CPS2 games.
  • Added Capcom Sports Club Japan (970722).
  • Added Street Fighter Alpha (950627).
  • Sprite drawing code modified - it should be better, not perfect jet.
  • "Optimized" all tile drawing - now ffight gets 80 fps without sync.
  • Finally added rowscroll!

You can download the new version on my Emu Reviews page, or get the source code at the Ace homepage.
- cyrussd

• Site updates: Finally, I have changed a few things here at the site. Most obvious is the addition of Mugsy's CPS2 Guide! This is a great resource if you need info about Emulators, ROMs or XOR's. Check it out under Mugsy's Help FAQ Guide. I also rearanged the Emu Reviews page so it's a little more organized, but removed the Notes icon due to the fact It linked to nothing. I had planned on adding detailed emulator info to it, but with my current situation of teaching myself JavaScript and having to start college in a month, I honestly didn't see that happening anytime soon. Anyways, enjoy the changes

Both are available for download on my Emu Reviews page.
- cyrussd

• CPS2 DAT for RomCenter released: Logiqx released his updated CPS2 verify DAT for RomCenter today. As always, you can download it on my Emu Reviews page.

• SSF2: The Tournament Battle available: The SSF2: The Tournament Battle (Japan 930910) dump has been released. Look at my Web Links under ROMs on the right menu for it. Here's a hint: look for something "Silver"
- cyrussd

• Another game dumped: This time round it's Marvel Super Heroes vs. Street Fighter (Hispanic 970625). I updated the Game List to reflect this info. Also, I've managed to find all the newly dumped ROMsets except SSF2: The Tournament Battle (Japan 930910). Check my Web Links under ROMs on the right menu to find em

• WinKawaks v1.14: One of my favorite emu's receives a minor bugfix update, along with a great new feature, combo macros! Now that's something i've wanted for a long time Here's a quick edited look at what's new:

  • Drivers & region switch for new XOR releases
  • Totally new macro system. You can now create your own complex macros. You can assign a special move, or a combo to a simple key !
  • Hopefully fixed CPS2 savestates bugs (still compatible with old saves)
  • Implemented savestates for CPS1
  • Fixed flickering issues at the bottom of the screen when in fullscreen.
  • Fixed some CPS1 BgHi issues (Sodom stage in Final Fight...)
  • Fixed some CPS1 sprite/background sync issues (Ghouls and Ghosts...)

  • Replaced scanlined 2xSai by an ASM 75% scanlines 2xSai which looks damn good
  • Super Street Fighter 2 Tournament Battle will now display Terminal Check unless you enable normal play in the Test menu. This is the correct behaviour.
  • Hopefully fixed bug in the Redefine Keys dialog box that caused the key redefinitions to loop sometimes.
  • Various optimisations

You can grab the latest version on my Emu Reviews page.
- cyrussd

• FINAL BURN SOURCE CODE RELEASED: Wow, this is truly an awesome day for CPS2 emulation Treble Winner is already trying to start an open-source Final Burn continuation project to have one great version of FB instead of a dozen. Man would that be great (less updating for me ) You can download the source code from the
FinalBurn homepage. Thank you Dayvee!

  • ADDED PRELIMINARY NETPLAY SUPPORT USING KAILLERA . Use the -knet option or the NebulaNet.exe file.
  • Fixed CPS1 background color selection.
  • Added most CPS1 games (there are still some missing)
  • Added more dipswitches
  • Sound state in CPS1 games is not saved/loaded now, I'm trying to fix some problems with it.
  • Fixed some CPS1 gfx glitches (3wonders black squares are still there)
  • Faster rotated games. Now they are almost as fast as horizontal ones (Thanks Mr K )
  • Much faster scanline modes.
  • Faster 2xZoom.
  • Added new image enhacement modes: Super2xSaI, 2xSaISuperEagle, 2xSai 75% scanlined (Thanks again to Mr K for this last one )
  • Added Vertical Scanlines mode.
  • Fixed Eagle support that was broken some versions ago.
  • Removed scanline modes in 640x480. You must use higher resolutions to enable them.
  • Added 384x224 and 768x448 resolutions. You can only use them if you video card supports them. (there are some patches out there that can enable these resolutions in some cards).
  • Added an AutoAnalyze option in the NEBULA.INI file to avoid nebula analyzing ROMsets on startup.
  • Added the Default option in Cheat files.
  • Sounds in the GUI.
  • SFZ3 characters and backgrounds animations fixed.
  • PrioEngine option removed from NEBULA.INI, it's no longer needed.

You can download it on my Emu Reviews page.
- cyrussd

You can download the new version on my Emu Reviews page.

Wednesday, July 18, 2001

• WinKawaks v1.13: This great emu just keeps getting better and better, now with some MMX enhancements that I've been waiting for Here's what's new:

  • New frameskip code. Should perform a LOT better for slower computers.
  • Added Nebula cheat support. 100% compatible
  • Added features to search for new cheats.
  • Replaced 2xSai and SuperEagle blitters by ASM counterparts, which require MMX but are over twice as fast.
  • Modified ADPCM so it's mono (the way it should be) and a bit softer to avoid static.
  • Added new options for correct windowed aspect ratio and full screen aspect ratio. Note that using the "smaller display" setting for your full screen ratio will allow you to use 640x480 . Read the INI for more info.
  • Added option to save current key settings to defaultkeys.ini
  • Suppressed the NoSound flag. Since 1.11, sound IS required for Kawaks to run.
  • Added driver for Pang! 3 (Euro). Has lousy sound, however...
  • Better sound for Final Fight and Strider
  • Fixed Carrier Air Wing palette
  • Fixed a sprite clipping issue in CPS1 games.
  • Fixed HotRod Player 2 keys.
  • Fixed Capcom Sports Club button 3

You can download it on my Emu Reviews page.
- cyrussd

• FinalBurn Hack and RomCenter updates: Yet another minor bug fix version of FinalBurn Hack, this time fixing the blank screen problem in SFZ3. There also is a brand spanking new version of RomCenter too with these new features and fixes:

  • Copy or Move selected games (neogeo, cps2..., incomplete, unknown...) to another directory
  • Fix incomplete games on CDROM
  • Report which ROMs are missing in games
  • Purge backup folder directly from Romcenter
  • Choose Zip compression level
  • Bug fixes.

You can download both FinalBurn Hack v2.5c and RomCenter v2.20 on my Emu Reviews page.
- cyrussd

• D&D SOM (Japan 960619) dumped: What I hope to be the final bug fix version of D&D2 (level 8 magic spells can be used without having to die at Synn) has been dumped. Too bad Raz no longer has the Japan board Hopefully someone will donate it again.
- cyrussd

• Nebula v1.6 info: An update strait from Miyamoto:

- This is already done in the private betas (v1.6)

  • Preliminary Net Play Support
  • I have tested it with ElSemi, the controls don't work; but the speed it's very good.
  • News Skin format, now with GUI sounds (it's really cool)
  • All CPS1 Clones supported
  • 2XSai Super Eagle
  • Faster Video Modes

- Current progress for the next betas (v1.6)

  • Net play support
  • Fixing 19XX, Strider...etc

Faster video modes and net play sounds good to me
- cyrussd

• CPS2emu v2.0 online: YAY! I am finally finished with the new layout, which means no more having to update two different sites everyday As for what's new (other than the design), here's a quick list:

  • Added a message board under Forums. I put it up mainly for CPS2 emulation, but all posts are welcome. So go check it out and start postin
  • You now can send me an instant message using Yahoo! Instant Messenger (you obviously need it installed for it to work Check the left column above Morrigan to see if I'm online, and if i am hit me up for emu help, to chat or whatever
  • Removed the PC icon from the Emu Reviews page and replaced it with "notes". It currently still links to nothing, but in the near future will be where you can get pros/cons about that specific emulator
  • Added Month In Review section to all archived months, which gives a quick overview of what happened and was released in that month

I also wanna say thanx to Demigod79 for all the sprite rips of Morrigan and to Palom for the helpful hint on how to fix my sites default language problem Speaking of, you should go check out Paloms site at it's new domain, where he has added a CPS1 ROM section to accompany his CPS2 ROMs section. Love the kick-ass new banner
- cyrussd

• Rockman2 (USA blue) board found: Man are we lucky, not only has the CPS2 scene gotten a hold of Eco Fighters (ETC blue) (which has officially been posted as received at CPS2Shock), but now it looks as if -Harley- has purchased another VERY RARE board, Rockman 2 (USA blue) for a measly $100 bucks! He is considering donating it to CPS2Shock, let's just hope he does
- cyrussd

Tuesday, July 17, 2001

• Both emu frontends updated: FinalBurn Launcher and Stingray for CPS2mame have both been updated again with more minor bug fixes. You can grab the new versions on my Emu Reviews page.
- cyrussd

Monday, July 16, 2001

• Raz receives Eco Fighters: This news is so hot off the presses it hasn't even been posted on CPS2Shock yet! I have a pretty good source (the donator) saying that Raz just got the board today Incase you've never heard of this VERY RARE board, it's a sidescrolling shooter (finally, not another damn vertical one that every emu has a problem with) that looks very cool. On a side note, this board is the reason that the Darkstalkers (USA blue) board that was being shipped to Raz a little while back was canceled (the donator had to save cash to help pay for the Eco Fighters board). Anyways, I updated the Game List page to show this great new information.

• FinalBurn Hack v2.5b: Another minor bugfix update for this emulator. Get the new version on my Emu Reviews page.
- cyrussd

• Winkawaks v1.12: Sound fix version. Two of my wishes for this great emu have been answered (sorta), fix the sound and allow the user to remap the reset button. Well at least I can remap the reset button to F3 :/ This was a much needed fix to v1.11. This version runs as fast as v1.07 (if not faster) but I still experience sound choppiness due to the fact that the code is now wrote to sync the game by the sound. Oh well, at least it's getting better Get it on my Emu Reviews page.
- cyrussd

• WinKawaks v1.11 released: Serious sound problems in this release of the great emu, but have no fear, all has been fixed in v1.12 (read about v1.12 in the above post). Anyways, here's a quick rundown on what's new in v1.11:

  • Sound issue should be fixed now
  • Modified autoframeskip code to adapt to new timing system
  • Added a system to autodetect for each frame wether sprite masking is needed or not
  • Fixed Street Fighter Zero - CPS Changer (Japan 951020) backgrounds
  • Macros for Player 2, Player 3 and Player 4
  • New blitter: Zoom 2x software
  • Fixed XMen Versus Street Fighters hanging when beginning fight against Apocalypse
  • Added Zoom window 100%/200%/300% in the menu
  • Made the Reset key redefinable, since everyone seems to hate F10
  • The usual batch of cosmetic changes

Download the newer Winkawaks v1.12 on my Emu Reviews page.
- cyrussd

Saturday, July 14, 2001

• Three emu updates: FinalBurn Hack, FBCPS2en and FinalBurn Launcher have been updated with minor additions and bug fixes. You can grab the new versions on my Emu Reviews page.
- cyrussd

Friday, July 13, 2001

• New open source CPS2 emu: Ace isn't new (it's current release is v1.1), but the fact that it now emulates CPS2 and not just CPS1 is This is the first open source CPS2 emulator (other than Mame) to be released, and is in it's very early stages (i.e. no sound because enabled it only runs 9-10 FPS). Hopefully we'll see some collaboration on this emu (like with Zsnes) to make it even better! Get the source from the Ace homepage, or download the emulator from my Emu Reviews page.
- cyrussd

Thursday, July 12, 2001

• FinalBurn Hack v2.5: Released with support for Capcom Sports Club. As always, you can get it on my Emu Reviews page.
- cyrussd

• Three more emu releases: FinalBurnX, FBCPS2en and FinalBurn Launcher have all been updated to support yesterday's XOR releases. They are all available for download on my Emu Reviews page.
- cyrussd

Wednesday, July 11, 2001

• Stingray v0.1.3 released: The frontend for CPS2mame has been updated to support today's 3 new XOR releases, along with a couple of bug fixes too. It's available for download on my Emu Reviews page.
- cyrussd

• Another big day at CPS2shock: Yep, not one, not two, but THREE new XOR's released! SSF2: The Tournament Battle (ETC 931119), Capcom Sports Club (Asia 970722) and (Japan 970722), all at CPS2Shock.
- cyrussd

• Winkawaks v1.10 released: Yes!!! This great emu seems to be getting back on track! It now runs at about the same speed v1.07 did, with all the great new enhancements of v1.08 (i.e. intro music now in sync). I can't wait to see the future enhanced MMX version! Anyways, here's a peek at what's new in this version:

  • Sound for Punisher, Cadillac & Dinosaurs, Warriors of fate works again (broken in 1.09)
  • Added option to disable individual sprite layers for CPS2 games.
  • Added Hotrod auto configuration in Game menu.
  • Unassigned keys 0 to 9
  • New Next save slot (F6) and Preceding save slot (F8) to compensate preceding modification
  • Modified 68000 core, which allows new VRAM code. Fixes many issues introduced in version 1.08, fixes additional gfx glitches and gives a speed boost.
  • Added sprite priorities and masking. Corrects SFA2 select char screen, SFA3 intro, VSav's intro, a Cyberbots level, etc...
  • Suppressed the "Show only available sets" option, since it caused so many problems.
  • Fixed the overclock functionality
  • Added drivers for 3 new CPS2shock releases

It's available for download on my Emu Reviews page. Oh yeah, old v1.07 removed
- cyrussd

• Other updated emulators and files: Finally, CPS2mame v2.0 has been released as well to support the new XOR releases, along with a new updated CPS2 DAT for Romcenter and updated Nebula Game DAT's. Also, FinalBurn Launcher v0.500 was released yesterday with support to make your own cheats. Sorry I'm a day late posting it, I'm currently putting all my effort into a new design for the site Anyways, these new releases are available too on my Emu Reviews page.
- cyrussd

Friday, July 6, 2001

• WinKawaks v1.09 released: Another day, another Winkawaks released, man life is good Check out some of what's new:

  • Optimized VRAM lag code
  • Optimized 2xSai, Super2xSai, and SuperEagle
  • Added a scanlined 2xSai blitter
  • 2xSai, SuperEagle and Super2xSai should work on S3/S4 cards, and some other exotic ones now
  • Fixed "Show if available" crash
  • Fixes in the menu code
  • Support for a default generic key setting
  • Alt+A toggles Autoframeskip

It's available on my Emu Reviews page, and as usual, check the release notes.txt in the zip to read the rest of the changes
- cyrussd

• A note on Winkawaks v1.09: After testing out the new version I found it to be better than v1.08, but not up to the level of quality v1.07 has (even after disabling VRAM lag). Since this is the case I have replaced v1.08 with v1.09, but also left the older v1.07 up as well. Go get em on my Emu Reviews page.
- cyrussd

Wednesday, July 4, 2001

• WinKawaks v1.07 back online: After testing WinKawaks v1.08 I discovered that it runs as choppy as Calice on my PC! I tweaked some of the settings in the .ini to make it run smooth, but it was slow as molasses So just incase anyone else has this same problem, I re uploaded v1.07 to my Emu Reviews page to accompany v1.08 that was already there.
- cyrussd

• WinKawaks v1.08 released: This awesome CPS2 emulator may well now be the best one out there. Check out some of what's new:

  • Option to display only available ROMsets.
  • Fixed Alien vs. Predator (Euro 940520) driver.
  • Fixed CPS1 sprite issues.
  • Fixed YM2152 (CPS1 music) tempo, but that causes new bugs.
  • Fixed QSound tempo. Faster music, music synced to intro in VSav, etc.
  • Overclocked CPS2 games to 12.8MHz (instead of theorical 11.8MHz) This fixes many glitches.
  • Now lagging not only palette but entire VRAM. Fixes some layer/palette errors.
  • Mercs 'dirt on the sprites' should be fixed.
  • Carrier Air Wing won't freeze anymore (game still buggy however, weird palette issues).
  • The King of Dragons's in game backgrounds show. Fully playable now.
  • 1941 won't freeze anymore when game starts.
  • Added a setting in the INI to control sound emulation frequency (44100 default).
  • New option in the INI to control the sound playback.
  • Redid the Kawaks splash screen code. Should display things correctly for vertical games and it looks better in fullscreen.
  • New Alternate scanlines blitter. If you have a slower PC and are using scanlines, I recommend using those, since they should be quite faster.
  • New image enhancement blitters : 2xSai, Super2xSai, and Eagle.

You can download it on my Emu Reviews page, and check out the release notes.txt in the zip to read the rest of the updates
- cyrussd
