• FinalBurn Alpha v0.2.6: A minor update adding support for today's XORs releases, along with a few other small fixes. Here's the list of what's new:


  • Added drivers for sgemf, sgemfa, pfghtj, ssf2a, ssf2ar1 & spf2t.
  • Added Dynasty Wars (World) and Knights of the Round (Hack).
  • Fixed the off-set of the sprites in the mvsc ending.
  • Fixed the sound in some CPS-1 games (all work fine now).

The list this time includes Super Gem Fighter: Mini Mix (USA 970904) and (Asia 970904), Pocket Fighter (Japan 970904), Super Puzzle Fighter 2 Turbo (USA 960620), and Super Street Fighter 2 (Asia 931005) and (Asia 930914). • Winkawaks v1.42: A new version of my fav emu has been released adding support for the new XORs, along with a slew of new options and fixes. Here's what's new:

  • A _lot_ of rewrites, notably in the video system and the general Kawaks architecture, which gives a significant speedup on 2xSai, SuperEagle, SuperSai, Scanlined 2xSai, will make the eventual addition of new systems easier, faster and more stable, and allows the following :
  • Added sprite transparencies, using Nebula tables. Tables should be named gamename.bld and put in the BLEND directory (ex: SFA3.BLD)
  • Added "Monitor dot matrix" blitter. Give it a try
  • Added support for ElSemi's Cheater program. Cheater must be started before Kawaks
  • Added menu items to control sound frequency. No need to edit WinKawaks.ini anymore for that.
  • Optimised 'Interframe blending' code. Should be significantly faster with most blitters, now
  • Rewrote DirectInput code: Hopefully fixes most controler problems
  • Fixed Screenshot Factory blink and Tile viewer if Interframe Blending is enabled
  • Fixed Scanlines 50% for some video cards (S3...)
  • Hopefully fixed some screenshot issues
  • Fixed flash frames in Marvel Vs Capcom
  • Fixed ending in Marvel Vs Capcom
  • NeoGeo isn't affected anymore by correct ration settings. Meaning it now looks better if these options are enabled (espeacially with Normal blitter)
  • Changed the way the video blitter selection works. For example, now, Shift+F3 is a toggle between scanlines, 50% scanlines, and zoomX2...
  • Added some keyboard shortcuts to the Load game, Screenshot Factory, Cheat boxes
  • Added some keyboard shortcuts to the English menus
  • Fixed Shot factory window size
  • A few romset changes to match the latest conventions and dumps (affects CYBOTSJ, DDSOMU, SFAR1)

• Nebula v2.11: New version of Nebula to coincide with the latest xor release, here's the new stuff:


  • General

    • Fixed Vertical games not displaying anything

  • Konami

    • Added Bucky O'Hare
    • Fixed Zooming
    • Fixed some sprite gfx problems (2nd level boss in moo)

  • CPS2

    • If you are only seeing 2 buttons in CPS2 games delete the .dat file for that game in the CONFIG folder

  • CPS1

    • Added SF2 YYC hack

  • NeoGeo

    • In the ROMDATA folder you'll find a file called Neogeo.new. Delete the Neogeo.dat and rename the .new to .dat to use the new MAME rom names
    • NOTE: if Nebula reports that neo-geo.rom, ng-sfx or ng-lo.rom are missing remember to put the neogeo.zip in a roms directory

• Bad news about three games: Man has it been a bad day for CPS2Shock and the CPS2 scene. First off, the supposed Dimahoo (USA) board arrived today, but was actually a (Japan) version in a blue case. Second, the Alien vs. Predator (Asia) board that arrived a few days ago is dead, and to make matters worse, the money that was going to be spent on SFZero 2 Alpha (Asia) will now go towards repairing the dead board. I updated our Game List with this unfortunate news

• ClrMamePro v2.55a: Another version of this awesome ROM manager has been released, adding new options along with the usual bug fixes. Here's what's new:


  • added a new romlist-bug message. It now detects wrong named biosroms caused by datfile typos (see MAME .59 irrmaze)
  • some minor changes to hourglass animation
  • leading "0x" in front of crc32s are now optional
  • fixed rare doubling zipfiles issue
  • fixed profiler datfile update, "remove old datfile" didn't work in all cases

• Nebula Transparencies v20020311a: I finally got off my lazy butt and added this fun little pack for Nebula to our Downloads page I also reorganized the page abit so the cheats are no longer in their own section, but are now below their corrisponding emulator.

• MAME Cheat File v0.2.5.b: Mike Hagger has released a brand new cheat pack for MAME that includes both CPS1 and CPS2 games, and is up to date with his FinalBurn Alpha and Nebula | Kawaks Cheat archives. This little goodie is available now on our Downloads page.

• Dimahoo (USA Blue) on the way: Yet another board is now on the way to CPS2Shock, which I am actually quite amazed to see posted on the donations page because the board was released post 99. I also discovered that Raz already has the Japan version in his possesion as well, so I updated our Game List with all of this info.

• ClrMamePro v2.55: Roman has released yet another version of his very kewl ROM manager, and this time with more than just a few changes Here's what's new:


  • fixed rare issue where renaming roms leads to doubled names (not double roms )
  • fixed missing checksum output
  • fixed ZipIntegrityCheck freezed CMPro on bad files
  • "allow separated biossets" now hides all messages about the separated biosset
  • changed the multiple instance check
  • changed the biossets test (to avoid MAME bugs )
  • new zlib 1.1.4 core

• 5 new boards arrive: CPS2Shock has recieved all boards needed to unlock the hold on Pocket Fighter and Nightwarriors, along with a few other rare ones. Here's the list: D&D: ToD (Hispanic), NightWarriors (Blue), Super Puzzle Fighter 2 (USA Blue) , Cyberbots (USA Blue), and D&D: SoM (USA Blue), the latter being the bug-fixed revision. I updated out Game List with this awesome new info, and I would expect a XOR release shortly

• Nebula v2.1: El Semi has released a new version of his multiplatform emu, which now adds support for the Konami system Here's a list of what's new:

    • Fixed SF3 crashing with Mike Haggar's cheats.

  • NEOGEO

  • GENERAL

    • Added an option to auto-Switch to 16 bit desktop color depth (Misc Menu)
    • Fixed Menu bar flickering in fullscreen.
    • Changed the ROMdata files format, to a more compact format. Also now all romsets are external (Except Konami), so you can rename/edit the romsets to match yours.

  • New zlib 1.1.4 core (2.54a)

  • Fixed browse-for-folder doesn't return "\" when cancel is pressed

• ROMCenter v2.40: A pretty hefty update for this easy to use ROM management utility, which I'm very happy to say has reverted back to it's old self Here's a look at the HUGE list of what's new:


  • new zip engine : it uses now zip32.dll and unzip32.dll
  • 'Move file' added to scan window.
  • 'Delete file' function added.
  • 'Test archive' function added.
  • 'Rezip' function added.
  • 'Refresh all' button added in menu to refresh all rom paths.
  • RomCenter can now handle several datafiles in one zip (cps-2)
  • Increased the filename and romname column width in listview
  • Xp colors removed (back to win9x colors due to problems with old windows9x themes)
  • Update Logiqx datutil to version 1.15
  • Using -m parameter to extract mame datafile with Logiqx Datutil
  • Sizes and positions of main window, datafile manager, scan window and their floating toolbars are saved.

• Two more boards being shipped: Yay, after a long dry spell we have some boards being sent to CPS2Shock First is the Dungeons & Dragons 1 (Hispanic Orange) board that was previously canceled, along with a new one, Super Street Fighter 2 (Asia Grey). I've also heard from a little birdy that there will be quite a few more boards to follow I updated our Game List with this info.

• Nebula v2.0a: El Semi has released a hefty bugfix version of yesterdays release that should correct alot of problems that people have been experiencing. Here's what's new in this release:


  • BUG FIXES

    • Fixed old GUI crashing on start
    • Fixed title bar corruption
    • Fixed Aspect ratio with Keep aspect option
    • Fixed vertical games on 32 bits desktop.
    • Fixed ingame menu letters when using 32 bit color depth
    • Fixed xmvsf crash on start bug.
    • Added shot display on Rom List when moving with arrow keys
    • Added a Switch to Fullscreen option in the Video Menu, as some people didn't know how to switch to fullscreen (ALT-Enter)
    • Added many transparency tables

  • Some things I forgot to mention in the readme:

    • To use the old gui, you can also launch: Nebula.exe -classic, or -window to run in a window
    • You can click on the column names in the rom list to sort the list using that column.

• Nebula v2.0: ElSemi has updated nebula adding many new things, the most noticeable being a new window mode GUI! Check out what's new:


  • General

    • Major rewrite of the main core. All systems emulation has experienced a speedup and the memory requirements have been lowered a lot.
    • New shots factories, that allows changing almost every parameter/sprite
    • New macro code, that allows macros to work without knowing the character addresses and also adds "global" macros that can be used with any character

  • NeoGeo

    • Added 4-point interpolation for Delta-T samples
    • Added a decryption progress indication for latest (encrypted GFX) games
    • Sengoku3 and Zupapa are disabled. The Find Roms trick will no longer work
    • Small fix to rasters that were wrong by 1 line (still few raster games work ok)

  • CPS1

    • Added knightsh, dinoh and wofh hacks (note: some of the roms aren't dumped so there are glitches for these games)

  • CPS2

    • Rewritten GFX code. It's the fastest and most accurate code in all nebula versions. It fixes all known glitches
    • Very accurate raster emulation. A lot faster than the old one, and now accurate at line-level
    • Fixed mvsc sprite misalignment in ending sequence
    • Added a pre amplification option to QSound renderer
